Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to unite and vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in the upcoming general elections, accusing the administration of mismanaging the country’s economy and failing to deliver on its promises.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer criticized the NPP’s governance, describing their claim of being the best managers of the economy as an insult to the intelligence of Ghanaians.
“The economy is in shambles,” Mahama stated. “Those who promised to protect the public purse have stolen the whole purse. It’s time for accountability. The time has come for us to drive the elephant into the bush.”
The former president also expressed concern about the state of the economy he would inherit should he win the presidency in 2025. Despite these challenges, he assured Ghanaians of his commitment to transparency and collaboration in rebuilding the nation.
“I won’t deceive you; we are going to meet a very difficult situation. But we will open the books and show you the true state of the economy so that, together, we can work to bring it back on track,” Mahama said.
The NDC leader’s call comes as Ghana faces mounting economic difficulties, with citizens increasingly demanding accountability and change. Mahama has reiterated his readiness to lead the nation out of its current challenges and restore public trust in governance.
