Daniel Amartey’s Black Stars Exit: Popular Sport Journalist Reveals How GFA President ‘Stole’ Money Meant For The Players, Forcing Amartey To Fight Him

Prominent Ghanaian sports journalist Collins Atta Poku has unveiled troubling details surrounding Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey’s decision to part ways with the Black Stars.

Speaking on Sompa TV/FM, Atta Poku highlighted alleged financial irregularities and managerial issues that reportedly influenced Amartey’s exit from the national team.

According to Atta Poku, the conflict traces back to preparations for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. During a meeting with the Black Stars squad, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced a financial package, promising each player $3,000.

However, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku is alleged to have distributed only $2,800 per player, explaining that the remaining $200 per person was to be allocated to the technical team. This move reportedly angered Amartey, who confronted Okraku over the lack of transparency in disbursing the funds.

Atta Poku further revealed that Amartey’s frustrations escalated following the controversial dismissal of former Black Stars coach Otto Addo. As one of the team’s captains, Amartey was reportedly invited to participate in discussions regarding the coach’s sacking. However, he declined, expressing dissatisfaction with how decisions were being made within the team.

These incidents, coupled with perceived indifference from the GFA toward his concerns, are believed to have influenced Amartey’s decision to distance himself from the national team.

The revelations have sparked widespread debate about the management of the Black Stars, with many fans and stakeholders calling for greater accountability and transparency within the GFA.

Critics argue that addressing these systemic issues is crucial to maintaining strong relationships between the association and players, as well as ensuring the team’s long-term success.
