Ghana has officially joined the 5G network community with the launch of its high-speed internet service in Accra today, November 1, 2024.
NextGen Infraco, the company behind this innovation, has pledged to support Ghana in harnessing 5G technology to drive economic growth and development.
According to Tenu Awoonor, Managing Director of NextGen Infraco, the company is committed to ensuring that Ghana’s significant investment in this global transition yields tangible financial and economic benefits.
“With 5G, we can create a more inclusive society where no one is left behind,” Awoonor stated. “5G will connect Ghanaians to the world, opening doors to new opportunities, whether you’re a farmer in Tamale, a small business owner in Kumasi, or a student in Cape Coast.”

NextGen Infraco, a consortium comprising the Government of Ghana and seven partners – Ascend Digital, K-NET, Radisys, Nokia, Tech Mahindra, AT Ghana, and Telecel Ghana – aims to revolutionize Ghana’s digital landscape. This move is expected to significantly improve mobile connectivity and broaden digital inclusion across the country ¹[2).
