Juliet Dwumor, a young Ghanaian woman from Abuakwa-Tanoso in the Ashanti Region, has safely returned to Ghana after enduring harsh conditions in Baghdad, Iraq.
Juliet had traveled to Iraq through an agent who promised her a hotel cleaning job but was instead placed in an exploitative housekeeping role. For nearly a year, she endured unpaid labor, harsh treatment, and immense stress.
In a viral video, Juliet pleaded for help from the government and Ghanaians, revealing that her employers demanded $3,000 and a ticket fee before she could leave.
Her story sparked widespread attention, prompting swift intervention from the Ghanaian Embassy in Kuwait. Three months later, Juliet was successfully evacuated back to Ghana.
Expressing gratitude, she thanked the embassy, fellow Ghanaians, and all those who supported her during the ordeal.
