Half Of South Africans To Suffer From Coronavirus - Minister Reveals

In a very unsettling development, South African Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize has predicted that over half the population could contract the Coronavirus which is currently bedevilling the country.

As of yesterday, the official number of COVID-19 cases was 150 but the Health Minister predicted that the number is likely going to jump to 200 by the end of this week.

The revelations come after a surge in the number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

According to reports, the minister estimates that around 60% to 70% of South Africans will contract the virus and 20% of these cases will be serious cases.

Mkhize made the alarming revelations while speaking to doctors in Pretoria. Mkhize also noted that the government should brace itself for a serious challenge.

With current capacity at around 5 000 tests daily, he revealed that the number is also likely to increase to 15 000 by as soon as next week and again to over 30 000 by mid-April.
