Prophet Joseph Atara, General Overseer of Believers Grace Crown Ministry International, has claimed responsibility for the defeat of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana’s 2020 general elections, attributing the outcome to his spiritual response after the demolition of his church building.
In an interview on Kingdom FM, Prophet Atara stated that his church in Adenta was demolished under orders allegedly from the NDC. He noted that a nearby church was spared from the demolition due to an “order from above,” a situation that intensified his resentment toward the party.
Following the incident, Prophet Atara said he engaged in “directions” and declarations, which he believes influenced the party’s electoral loss.
Recalling the incident, he added, “When I made those declarations, I heard a pastor on radio say he wouldn’t preach again if the NDC didn’t win the 2020 elections. I ‘pensioned’ him. He used to preach on Angel FM, but his airtime and platform were taken away.”
Prophet Atara went on to emphasize that he still harbors resentment against the NDC. He insists that unless the party issues an apology for the church demolition, he will act to ensure their defeat in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Quoting scripture, he stated, “Even the Bible says that if you commit a sin, ask God for forgiveness. If you offend me and don’t apologize, can I forgive you?”
