Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, has launched a scathing attack on the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP), labeling them as an “arrogant party”.
According to A Plus, the NPP’s arrogance in power led to their crushing defeat in the December elections.
He believes that the party’s failure to listen to advice and criticisms ultimately sealed their fate. This criticism is not new, as A Plus has previously spoken out against the NPP’s leadership, particularly President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whom he accused of ruining the party’s reputation.
In light of the NPP’s defeat, A Plus has announced his decision to caucus with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament.
He hopes that by working with the NDC, he can help bring positive change to the people of Gomoa Central.
A Plus also expressed his desire to see the NDC govern effectively, staying in power for at least 12 years, which he believes would teach the NPP a “bitter lesson”.
A Plus’s decision to caucus with the NDC is significant, given his independent status as a Member of Parliament.
His victory in the Gomoa Central constituency was a notable upset, as he unseated the incumbent NPP MP, Nana Eyiah Quansah, with 14,277 votes to Quansah’s 11,637.
