Daniel Tuffour, a 21-year-old student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), made his initial court appearance today in connection with the alleged murder of Joana Yabani.
The proceedings, held at the Accra High Court, marked the beginning of a case that has garnered significant public attention.
During the session, the prosecution outlined the charges against Tuffour, detailing the events leading up to Yabani’s death.

The defense requested bail, citing Tuffour’s status as a student and lack of prior criminal record; however, the judge denied this request, deeming the charges too severe.
The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing for March 15, 2025, to examine the evidence and determine the course of the trial.
Family members of both the accused and the victim were present, visibly emotional as the case commenced.
The legal community and public alike are closely monitoring the developments of this case.
