A devastating bus accident occurred on Monday, October 14, 2024, claiming 13 precious lives.
The VIP bus, registered as ER 2445-11, was traveling from Kumasi to Enchi in the Western North Region when it veered off the road and plunged into a ditch near Kwapia, close to Obuasi.
According to Citi News’ Hafiz Tijani, police confirmed that 11 passengers died instantly, while one more succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The driver, Osei Adu, was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away due to severe injuries.

The victims comprised seven males, five females, and a child, all passengers on the ill-fated bus. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was overloaded after picking up stranded passengers from another broken-down bus along the route.
The accident occurred when the bus lost control while navigating a sharp curve, skidding off the road and into the ditch. Emergency services swiftly responded, rescuing survivors and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. However, the survivors’ injuries remain critical.
Two police officers on escort duties were also injured and are receiving treatment.
