Last-Minute Recruitments, Promotions And Transfers Will Be Reversed — Mahama’s Transition Team

The Transition Team of President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning, stating that it will reverse all payments, recruitments, transfers, and promotions made by the outgoing government if they take over power.

This decision comes after the team accused the government’s transition team of displaying bad faith.

According to the Transition Team, the outgoing government’s last-minute decisions are not in good faith and could have severe consequences for the incoming administration.

The team has cautioned public officials to resist pressure from the outgoing government to engage in these acts, warning that they could face severe consequences when the new government takes over.

However, Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar has defended the government’s actions, stating that all recruitments and payments have received the relevant statutory approvals and have not been proven to be illegal.

Abubakar emphasized that the government’s term expires on January 6, 2025, and that any allegations of illegality should be brought to the attention of the Transition Team.

The Transition Team’s spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has also raised concerns about the timing and scale of a GH₵240 million payment to an entity linked to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Ofosu urged for the suspension of the payment until further scrutiny is completed.
