The coronavirus pandemic continues to take a toll the world over. Different countries are taking preventive measures to curb the deadly virus from spreading with thousands of cases and deaths already reported.

In Africa, more than 100 cases have been reported in close to 11 countries as per the latest figures from the World Health Organization.

Egypt leads the continent in the number of cases reported having recorded 59 patients, that surpassing half the number of the total cases.

Most of the cases in Egypt are among passengers and crew members aboard a Nile cruise ship coming from the southern city of Aswan to Luxor, Egypt state-run Ahram Online reported.

A German citizen was reported to have died out of the virus in Egypt that is the first fatality in the country. No cases have so far confirmed in East Africa citizens in the region being cautioned to be on the watch and prepare accordingly as well as observing the essential precautionary measures.

In Kenya, a 120-bed quarantine center has been established in Nairobi to help contain the virus in the case an outbreak is reported.

It also has two testing facilities, which countries in the region rely on.

South Africa has since reported 13 cases of the virus citizens walking into private laboratories and test centers for private coronavirus tests. The tests are said to be costing around ZAR 1230(Equaling Ksh 7,700) as the country’s local media report.

For Nigeria, temperature screenings and use of hand sanitizers before entering public spaces such as banks, offices, and restaurants are employed to prevent any possible case.
