Mahama Promises Gari Factory for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa to Boost Jobs and Economic Growth If Voted President

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to establish a gari processing factory in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa area if elected in the December 7 elections.

Speaking at a rally in the Brakwa enclave as part of his tour of the Central Region, Mahama underscored the area’s potential for agro-industrial development, citing its abundant land and water resources.

He expressed confidence that a gari factory would not only tap into local agricultural strengths but also reduce unemployment and stimulate economic growth in the region.

Mahama emphasized that under an NDC government, job creation and economic growth would be top priorities, contrasting his approach with what he described as the current administration’s mismanagement of the economy.

“A strong economy is the foundation of a prosperous country. When the economy thrives, it creates money and jobs,” he told supporters, assuring them of his commitment to restore economic stability and bring new opportunities to struggling communities.

Taking aim at the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahama accused them of failing to deliver on their promises. He recalled the NPP’s claims in opposition that Ghana was not a poor country, but noted that under their leadership, resources have become scarce. “They said Ghana wasn’t a poor country, but now the money is nowhere to be found,” he remarked.

Mahama outlined plans to partner with the Ghana Exim Bank to finance the gari factory in Brakwa. He also committed to establishing cocoa and palm oil processing factories in the region, further enhancing the area’s industrial potential and creating additional employment opportunities.

As Ghana approaches a critical election, Mahama’s message focused on revitalizing the economy through local industry and expanding job prospects for the youth.
