The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has reiterated the party’s commitment to collaborating with traditional authorities, particularly queen mothers, to combat poverty in the Central Region.
Addressing a forum of Central Regional Queen Mothers, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed concern that the region is currently ranked as the fourth poorest in Ghana. She emphasized the need for governments to work closely with traditional leaders to address this issue.
The NDC vice presidential candidate outlined several initiatives that the next NDC government plans to implement to empower women and create jobs in the region.
These include the introduction of the 24-Hour Economy, Women’s Development Bank, the National Apprenticeship Programme, and the Big Push.
Additionally, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang promised that the next NDC government would build new markets and expand infrastructure in the region, ensuring that the Central Region is not left behind in the development process.
As a renowned academic and former Minister of Education, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang has consistently demonstrated her commitment to empowering women and promoting sustainable development.
