The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor Columbus Irosanga, renowned for his role as ‘Igbudu’ in the classic 2001 film Isakaba.
His passing was confirmed by actress Hilda Dokubo, who described him as a cultural icon and an irreplaceable figure in Nollywood.
Beyond acting, Irosanga was a distinguished academic, serving as a senior lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department at the University of Port Harcourt, where he obtained his bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees.
Reports indicate that he passed away on February 6, 2025, after a brief illness, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fans and colleagues.
Many have praised his dual contributions to film and education, highlighting his role in mentoring upcoming actors. His death follows closely after the loss of actress Pat Ugwu, marking a somber period for Nollywood.
