After a seven-year legal battle, Pastor Hammond Love, ex-husband of gospel singer Obaapa Christie, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison with hard labor for stealing a vehicle entrusted to him.
The Accra Circuit Court found Pastor Love guilty of theft, despite his plea for leniency and offer to pay a fine instead of serving time.
Presiding Judge Isaac Addo emphasized that as a pastor, Pastor Love was expected to uphold a higher standard of integrity, particularly in matters involving trust.
The case dates back to 2016, when Pastor Love was tasked with clearing a 4×4 vehicle from the port for Samuel Amankwah, a US-based resident. However, Pastor Love sold the vehicle without Amankwah’s consent and failed to produce substantial evidence to support his claims.
The court deemed Pastor Love’s account lacking credibility, leading to the prison sentence.
