See Full List Of Phones That Will No Longer Be Able To Use WhatsApp In 2025

In the coming weeks, WhatsApp will be ending support for several older Android and iPhone models, leaving users with outdated devices unable to access the popular messaging app.

The first compatibility update will take effect on January 1, 2025, when WhatsApp will stop supporting Android’s KitKat OS and older versions.

While some users with KitKat on their phones will still be able to use WhatsApp if their device can be updated to a more recent OS, others with older phone models that are no longer provided with official updates will be affected.

The list of Android phones known to be affected by the January 1 change includes:

  1. Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini
  2. Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014
  3. HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601
  4. LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90
  5. Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V

Later in 2025, WhatsApp will also end support for iPhones running on iOS versions earlier than 15.1. From May 5, the app will no longer work on older iPhone models, including:

  1. iPhone 5s
  2. iPhone 6
  3. iPhone 6 Plus

According to Meta, the owner of WhatsApp, the changes are part of regular updates to ensure the app stays secure and functional while working with newer phones. The updates will affect both the regular WhatsApp application and WhatsApp Business, which has the same system requirements.

Users with affected devices are advised to consider upgrading to newer models or exploring alternative messaging apps to avoid disruption to their communication services.
