In recent times after the death of Captain Market, a Soldier who was mistaken for a thief at Denkyira Obuasi and was beaten and killed by the MOB has made people fearful when beating random thieves in town.
Nowadays, they will let you work with hard labor instead of beating you. They will let you clean the whole community after beating you a little bit.
It’s not any ordinary cleaning but for a couple of hours while you’re being monitored. Sometimes too, they will let you dance and sing while they take a video of you.
A thief who we caught at Ashaiman market was made to clean a very filthy gutter with his bare hands. It’s a nice punishment as compared to him being lynched.
