Prophet Kofi Oduro, lead pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, has voiced strong opposition to the trend of equating the value of a foreign passport with a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD).
The outspoken pastor criticized individuals who argue over the merits of holding a foreign passport versus earning a PhD, especially in a world where many are striving to develop innovative solutions for global challenges.
Addressing his congregation, Prophet Oduro labeled the ongoing social media debates on passports and PhDs as “nonsense.”
“These discussions are inherently flawed and hold no value in death, nor are they relevant to one’s salvation,” he stated.
“Does possessing a Dutch passport negate the need for education? Such views demean the importance of education. While some are advancing research in fields like artificial intelligence, we waste time on pointless debates,” he lamented.
“What significance does an American or British passport hold? It’s all vanity. When Ebony passed away, her visa-filled passport was meaningless. Having lived abroad, I understand the realities. There are opportunities, but it’s not as simple as it seems,” he fumed.
The debate was sparked by Kofi Gabs, a Ghanaian cleaner in the Netherlands, who claimed that a Dutch passport is more valuable than a PhD from Ghana. Known as Mr. Happiness, Kofi Gabs made this comment after obtaining Dutch citizenship and a passport, igniting an online controversy.
