Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for physically assaulting a lecturer during an altercation over a video recording.
The incident, which took place on campus, reportedly escalated after the lecturer objected to the student filming in class.
Witnesses stated that the situation quickly turned confrontational, leading to disciplinary action. Following a thorough review by the university’s disciplinary committee, officials deemed her actions a gross violation of the institution’s code of conduct.

The expulsion has sparked discussions on student behavior and respect for academic authorities in Nigerian universities.
While some students expressed support for the decision, others debated whether alternative disciplinary measures should have been considered.
The university has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism within its academic environment.
