The Ghanaian government has officially approved a 10% salary increase for public sector workers, effective January to December 2025.
This adjustment, negotiated with the Labour Union, marks the second pay raise within a year, highlighting the administration’s commitment to improving worker welfare.
The increase applies specifically to employees under the Single Spine Salary Structure, benefiting a significant portion of government workers.
President John Dramani Mahama has assured labor groups that further adjustments will be considered if the economy strengthens in the coming year.
The agreement was formalized through consultations with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment.
While some workers welcome the raise as a relief against inflation, others argue it falls short of addressing broader economic challenges.
The implementation of the salary increase will be closely monitored to ensure compliance across all government sectors.
