A video has emerged on social media showing a Nigerian policeman brutalizing a civilian in Rivers State – sl,αpped him right on the face.
In the video, the officer is seen hitting and lashing the civilian with a stick while a woman behind is heard pleading with him to stop.
It is not clear what caused the altercation between the policeman and the civilian, however, it is said to have sparked following a misunderstanding.
The incident has sparked outrage among netizens, mostly Nigerians online.
The video has prompted calls for the police to be held accountable for their actions and for reforms to be made to the police force.
