20 people have been confirmed dead in a church stampede during a church service at a stadium in Tanzania, OccupyGh.com has gathered.

The horror incident is said to have happened after a popular pastor in the town organized a prayer service in a stadium.

The pastor has been identified as Boniface Mwamposa.

Boniface Mwamposa is said to have switched off the lights in the stadium and asked worshippers to rush for a ‘blessed oil’ he poured on the ground.

According to what has been gathered by us at OccupyGh.com, Pastor Boniface Mwamposa told his congregation that the ‘blessed oil’ is a medium for prosperity and it has means to cure all diseases.

The rush to be anointed by the oil led to people crushing one another, resulting in the deaths of 20 people and 16 people being injured, Reuters reported.

More casualties are feared to have died as authorities continue to investigate the unfortunate event.
