24 hours Later, Bus Donated By GFA To Hohoe United Undergoes Repairs At ‘Fitter’ shop

A bus donated to Hohoe United FC by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) broke down barely 24 hours after it was handed over.

The vehicle, part of a broader initiative to support lower-tier clubs, reportedly developed mechanical issues while en route to the team’s camp and is currently being repaired at a fitting shop in Avenor.

The GFA, under the leadership of President Kurt Okraku, distributed nine buses on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, during a ceremony at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The donation was in fulfillment of a promise made during the 29th Ordinary Congress held in Kumasi. The beneficiaries included Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs FC, New Edubiase United FC, Okwawu United FC, Young Apostles FC, Techiman Heroes FC, Basake Holy Stars FC, Vision FC, Hohoe United FC, and Victory Club Warriors FC.

However, the breakdown of Hohoe United’s bus has raised concerns about the condition of the vehicles provided. Reports from Joy Sports indicate that the bus showed signs of wear and tear, sparking criticism from football fans and stakeholders. Many have questioned why the GFA chose to distribute older vehicles, with photos circulating online further fueling the debate.

The incident has cast a shadow over the GFA’s initiative, with calls for greater transparency and accountability in future donations to ensure clubs receive reliable resources.
