Details available to us at OccupyGh.com from a disturbing incident in Adenta, Accra, a nine-year-old boy named Nhyira Ohene Owiredu suffered physical abuse at the hands of his aunt, resulting in injuries to his back and head.
The child had moved from his mother’s home in Kasoa to spend his vacation with his aunt, who initially portrayed the situation positively to the family.
She claimed that Nhyira was content living with her and even went as far as enrolling him in a new school and arranging private lessons.
However, the reality of the situation was far more sinister, as the aunt allegedly exploited the boy for her own work purposes.

When Nhyira failed to meet her demands, he was reportedly subjected to torture. The abuse came to light when concerned residents became aware of the situation and reported it to the Adenta Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police.
This intervention led to the prompt arrest of the aunt.
The case highlights the critical importance of community vigilance in protecting vulnerable children from abuse, even within family settings.
Investigation continues.
