Afenyo-Markin Named Leader Of Minority In 9th Parliament

The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decided to maintain its leadership in Parliament, citing the importance of experience and continuity.

This move ensures that the NPP caucus in Parliament will continue to be led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who will serve as Minority Leader.

According to sources close to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), the decision to retain the current leadership is aimed at promoting peace and effective management of parliamentary affairs.

The National Council is currently meeting with MPs-elect to inform them of this decision.

The leadership team for the NPP’s Minority caucus in the 9th Parliament is as follows:

  • Minority Leader: Alexander Afenyo-Markin
  • Deputy Minority Leader: Patricia Apiagyei
  • Chief Whip: Frank Annoh-Dompreh
  • First Deputy Minority Whip: Habib Iddrisu
  • Second Deputy Minority Whip: Davis Opoku

This development is seen as a strategic move by the NPP to leverage the experience and expertise of its current leadership team as they navigate the complexities of the 9th Parliament.
