Ghanaian Kumawood actress Asantewaa who survived the collapse of the movie industry in Ghana by joining TikTok has finally revealed how much she charges for an advertisement on the video-sharing platform.
TikTok, known in China as Douyin, is a video-focused social networking service owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. It steadily blew up during the pandemic and that was when most people including Asantewaa took to peak their popularity.
Asantewaa in a recent interview with Deloris Frimpong Manson on the Delay Show revealed that she joined the platform from boredom as the movie industry died.
“My friend (my coursemate). She called me during the lockdown that there’s an app called TikTok, and have I heard about it? And she thinks this app is for me.
So download the app. And I am like, ma te (I hear)… so I downloaded the app and did my first video then everybody loved it. I woke up, and people were just tagging me that some bloggers have posted the video.”
Today Asantewaa has almost 900,000 followers with 20million likes on her videos. She disclosed how she makes money from the social media platform.
