Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Church, and his wife have been fined GH₵6,000 each for their role in the tragic East Legon crash involving their 16-year-old son.
The accident, which occurred on October 12, 2024, claimed the lives of two 12-year-old girls, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh Boateng.
According to the court, the Amoakos had failed to supervise their son, who was driving his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace without a valid driver’s license.
The teenager, driving at high speed, collided with an Acura, causing both vehicles to catch fire. As a result, the court sentenced him to six months in the Senior Correctional Centre for his reckless actions.
In addition to the negligence fine, the court ordered Bishop Salifu Amoako to pay more than GH₵8,000 for damages to an electricity pole destroyed in the crash.
The ruling has sparked widespread backlash on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing dissatisfaction over what they see as a lenient punishment.
The community continues to mourn the untimely loss of the young lives and is calling for stronger measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
