A piece of breaking news reaching our news desk indicates that COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare has been sworn in as Ghana’s 23rd Inspector General of Police.
Before en appointment and swearing-in, COP George Dampare served as Director-General in charge of Administration at the Service.

He was sworn into office today Friday 8th October 2021 by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
The president noted during the ceremony:
“He has demonstrated he will be an effective leader of the Police,”
“We have a worthy successor to Mr Oppong-Buanoh (the immediate past IGP) and the others who have gone before him,” Nana Akufo Addo added.
George Akuffo Dampare is a Ghanaian chartered accountant and police officer.
He was appointed as the Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service by President Nana Akufo-Addo on 21 July 2021 effective 1 August 2021, taking over from James Oppong-Boanuh who had been serving since October 2019.
