BREAKING: ECG Issues Statement To General Public Over 17.5% Increment Bills

Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released a statement informing the public to ignore any issue regarding the increment of bills to over 17.5%.

Recall that recently, there was a report that the Electricity Company had increased its bill by 17.5% as a form of payback for the free intervention the government recently absorbed on behalf of Ghanaians.

The statement signed by the Director of ECG pinpoints that those speculated rumors are false, thus, Ghanaians should take their bitter pile.

According to snippets of the released statement, the Public Utility and Regulatory Commission which is delegated to increase and decrease the tariffs has not given any update that there has been any increment.

“The ECG wishes to inform its cherished customers and the public that the PURC who is mandated by law to set tariffs has not informed ECG of any increase in tariff, neither has the ECG received notice from the Government of Ghana of new or increased taxes to be applied to the current electricity tariff structure.”

“ECG customers and the public are therefore advised to ignore the misinformation since it is false.”
