Breast Ironing is an alarming ‘pandemic’ in most African societies as 3.8 million women are affected globally.
In a bid to protect these young girls, their wards use large stones, hammers, or spatulas that have been heated over scorching coals on their breasts.
The heat objects are used to compress the breast tissue of girls as young as 9 years old, not to be attractive to men.
A netizen on Twitter extremely concerned about the situation shared the alarming statistic :

This is extremely sad. Can you imagine a red hot spatula being pressed in your breasts right as they start to grow? The pain as it burns into your skin?
