Coronavirus: First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo Cancels Event

The First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has announced the cancellation of the International Women’s Day High-Level Event scheduled to have come off on Friday, March 13.

This was contained in a press release on March 13, 2020.

The event was to be held at Labadi Beach Hotel in the evening.

According to the Office of the First Lady, the cancellation was due to the confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ghana declared by the Health Minister on Thursday.

“The Office of the First Lady entreats all Ghanaians to take good care of themselves,” the statement said.

Furthermore, the statement gave some precautionary measures to every Ghanaian concerning the pandemic.

Avoiding handshakes, regular hand wash with soap under running water, the use of alcoholic-based hand sanitizers and keeping distance of two meters from people with symptoms of the virus are some of the measures stated.

The statement advised everyone to try as much as possible to be physically active, feed the body with healthy food and have enough sleep.

“Stay home if you feel unwell.”

Some numbers – 0509497700 and 0558439868 – were stated for contact if a person feels unwell with symptoms like fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing.
