Do Not despair, We’ll Keep Your Lights On – Mahama Assures

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to tackling Ghana’s energy crisis, ensuring a consistent power supply and preventing a return to the era of “dumsor” (frequent power outages).

Speaking at the 92nd National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana in Pomadze, Winneba, on Thursday, January 9, President Mahama acknowledged the significant challenges facing the country, particularly in the energy sector.

He emphasized his administration’s proactive stance on resolving the energy crisis, stating, “We understand the frustration, and I want to assure you, my brothers and sisters, don’t despair”.

President Mahama highlighted his government’s efforts to address the energy crisis, including a meeting with stakeholders in the electricity value chain to identify innovative solutions. He expressed confidence that progress was being made, saying, “I can assure you, with some of the ideas they’ve come up with, we will make sure your lights stay on”.

The President’s assurance is a welcome relief to Ghanaians who have been grappling with power outages and energy uncertainty.

As part of his administration’s comprehensive policy agenda, President Mahama has pledged to implement a 24-hour economy to bolster energy supply.
