Fake Journalist Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison For Robbery and Shooting Taxi Driver

A piece of shocking news reaching us at occupygh.com indicates that a ‘fake’ journalist has been handed down 30 years in prison for his involvement in a robbery and shooting.

The convict, John Awila, also known as Nana Kojo Agboko, pretended to be a journalist with Accra-based Onua TV. He was arrested by the Breman Asikuma police command for shooting and robbing a taxi driver at Breman Essuoko.

The incident unfolded when Awila hired a taxi in Achiase, Eastern Region, claiming to be a journalist who reports to Captain Smart every day.

He convinced the taxi driver to accompany him to visit his mother in Breman Asikuma. However, during the journey, Awila revealed his true intentions, pulling out a gun and demanding the driver’s money, phones, and car key. After collecting the valuables, he shot the driver in the forehead and fled the scene.

Following police investigations, Awila was apprehended and charged with three counts of robbery. He pleaded guilty to all charges, resulting in a 30-year imprisonment for each count, with the sentences to run concurrently.
