Nana Yaw Amponsah, the former Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, is recovering from food poisoning after falling ill over the weekend.
According to sources, Amponsah was attending a friend’s party in Tarkwa when he suddenly took ill. He was scheduled to travel outside the country for business purposes on Wednesday but has been forced to postpone his plans due to his health condition.
The former Kotoko CEO is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed health facility and is reported to be in stable condition. No suspects have been identified in connection with the poisoning.

Amponsah served as CEO of Asante Kotoko from August 2020 to August 2023, during which time the club won a record 24th league title in the 2021/22 season.
He later took up a similar role with Moldovan club FC Petrocub Hincesti in January 2024 but left after just six months in July 2024.
The football community is wishing Amponsah a speedy and full recovery.
