National Cathedral Ghana Drinking Spot Proposal

Ghana Drunkards Association Appeals for National Cathedral to Become a Drinking Spot

The Ghana Drunkards Association, led by its Commander-in-Chief Moses Onya, popularly known as Drybone, has humorously appealed to President-elect John Mahama to convert the incomplete National Cathedral project into a national drinking spot.

In a viral statement, Drybone argued that the unfinished structure could serve a better purpose as a recreational space, sparking both laughter and debate among citizens.

The National Cathedral was originally envisioned as a monumental religious site for state functions, with over $58 million invested into what many now call “the most expensive hole in Ghana.”

Critics have labeled the project a symbol of corruption during the Nana Akufo-Addo administration, citing mismanagement and lack of transparency in its execution.

Drybone’s satirical suggestion underscores the frustration of many Ghanaians over the stalled project, with some seeing humor as a way to cope with the perceived waste.

While the proposal is unlikely to be taken seriously, it reignites discussions about repurposing the site for more practical or inclusive uses.

The National Cathedral’s fate remains a contentious issue, but Drybone’s bold appeal has added a light-hearted twist to the national debate.

Whether as a cathedral or a community space, the project’s completion remains a key demand for accountability.
