Global COVID-19 Cases Surpasses 6.2 Million: John Hopkins University

Global COVID-19 cases has surpasses 6.2 million people with over 375,000 fatalities and more than 2.69 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.

Ghana has recorded 8,297 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as of 2nd June 2020. The total number of active cases of COVID-19 in Ghana currently stands at 5,273.

The Chinese mainland has 83,022 COVID-19 cases so far, of which 1,761 are imported. A total of 371 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation. China’s death toll stands at 4,645.

Wuhan, once the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in China, reported no new asymptomatic cases for the first time in two months on Sunday.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he’s cutting U.S. ties with the World Health Organization (WHO). The COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. has now topped 105,165 with over 1.81 million confirmed cases.

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Sunday he will ask parliament to agree to a final two-week extension of the state of emergency until June 21.

Brazil has registered 526,447 confirmed cases and 29,937 deaths attributed to the virus. The country’s financial analysts downgraded their economic growth forecast for 2020 from -5.89 percent to -6.25 percent, marking the 16th downward adjustment in a row.
