Golden Toilet Seat Stolen From U.K's Blenheim Palace

Burglars managed to steal an expensive piece of art, a solid gold toilet seat from Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, in the United Kingdom,Birthplace of Winston Churchill;Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945. The Thames Valley Police confirmed on Saturday that the item is indeed gone.

In his statement, Detective Inspector Jess Milne, said: “The piece of art that has been stolen is a high value toilet made out of gold that was on display at the palace.”

The police confirmed that the burglars broke in during the night and left the scene around 4:50 a.m. BST Saturday morning. Law enforcement got an early call about the burglary at 4:57 a.m. Thankfully No one was injured.

“America,” was the name of the artwork and was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was first displayed in the Guggenheim in New York City, N.Y. in 2016. It is made of 18-karat gold and reportedly estimated to be worth more than $1 million. It is fully working and visitors were invited to use it when necessary.

On Sept. 12 It was opened at Blenheim Palace and was scheduled to run through to Oct. 27. Investigation remains ongoing
