Pastor Enoch Adeboye, leader of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has issued a public apology regarding his previous comments on tithing.
During a sermon at RCCG’s national youth convention, Adeboye clarified that his earlier claim, suggesting Christians who do not pay tithes may not enter heaven, was not biblically accurate.
He acknowledged that no scripture links salvation or heaven to the payment of tithes, stressing instead the importance of peace and holiness, as emphasized in the Bible.
Pastor Adeboye further encouraged believers to give generously, suggesting that giving should not be limited to the traditional 10% tithe.
His apology sparked mixed reactions, with some applauding his humility in correcting the record, while others reignited debates over the broader role of tithing in Christian doctrine.
