Ghanaian musician Camidoh has sparked a debate with his unconventional views on smoking.
In a recent interview, he argued that smoking may not be entirely negative, stating, “Not everything that is portrayed as negative is negative.”
When pressed for a definitive answer on the health implications of smoking, Camidoh replied, “If it’s bad for you, it’s bad for you.
The doctors have to detect that.” He drew an analogy with traditional cooking methods, saying, “Our parents have been cooking kenkey for years, surrounded by smoke. Yet, we don’t dwell on the potential health risks.”

Camidoh emphasized that his perspective on smoking is rooted in his personal experience and artistic expression.
“I’m telling a story,” he said, suggesting that smoking may not be inherently bad in his eyes. His comments have ignited a conversation about the nuances of smoking and its perceived negative effects.
