OccupyGh.com has been informed that the Kantanka Group of companies, a Ghanaian automobile-manufacturing company will in 2020 begin the production of an electric tricycle aka Aboboyaa.

The news of Kantanka Group of companies venturing into the production ‘Aboboyaa’ was made known by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the group, Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr.
According to Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr, the decision to go electronic was to beat other competitor automobile-manufacturing brands in Ghana and also gauge how consumers would be open to accepting new brands and designs.
He said: “By mid-2020, we are even going to do ‘Aboboyaa’, a three-tire vehicle which will be electric.”
To ensure effective usage, Mr. Safo Jr explained the company was set to install substations across Ghana where drivers can recharge the tricycles after about every 100 kilometers drive.
He also revealed that the company would introduce a system that will enable batteries to charge automatically as they run.
Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr further revealed that the prices of their will reduce drastically if the duty component of vehicles in Ghana were removed or subsidized.
