The tourism minister has come under heavy fire from Kennedy Agyapong for suggesting he wants to use funerals in Ghana as tourist attractions.
Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Minister of tourist, Arts, and Culture, has hinted at a potential change in the nation’s tourist strategy that could lead to the emergence of “funeral tourism” as a way to support the regional tourism industry.
Dr. Awal thinks the planned project is a rare chance to introduce the globe to Ghana’s rich culture and customs, even though certain industry players may not take too kindly to it.
Dr. Awal outlined his idea for “funeral tourism,” emphasising that funerals in Ghana were not just sombre occasions but also lively celebrations of life that provided an insight into the country’s various cultures.
He contends that exhibiting these customs will give visitors a genuine and comprehensive look at culture.
Kennedy Agyapong criticised the government for making this choice and accused them of lacking leadership vision.
