Memphis Woman Accused of Stealing Over $640,000 from Brinks Inc Faces Theft Charges

A Memphis woman, Makayla Small was charged with stealing over $640,000 while working for Brinks Inc – she later admitted to the thefts and return $30,200.

Makayla Small, who was arrested on June 5, 2023, stands accused of theft of property amounting to $250,000 or more.

At a court hearing on June 7, her bond was reduced from $250,000 to $105,000, but she remains in custody at the Shelby County Jail.

The charges stem from an incident reported on September 6, 2022, when a security manager at Brink’s Inc. alerted Memphis Police about the theft.

The manager discovered discrepancies in deposits and surveillance footage allegedly showed Small, a cash processor, taking money during the period between June and August 2022.

The affidavit states that Small confessed to the thefts and returned $30,200 to Brink’s on August 31, 2022, out of the total amount of $640,211 she allegedly stole.
