
<p class="has-drop-cap">A nurse at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana has tested positive for the novel <a href="https://occupygh.com/category/coronavirus">coronavirus</a> (COVID-19).</p>



<p>It is unclear how the unnamed <a href="https://occupygh.com/tag/nurses">nurse</a> contracted the disease as the hospital authorities have already begun tracing the primary source of the infection, 3news.com gathered on Friday.</p>



<p>They have meanwhile assured the infected staff of their full support, and are expected to soon state the case with the full details.</p>

<p>It comes at a time that a specialist doctor at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital at Ridge has also tested positive for the virus that has infected over a million people globally since the outbreak began in China in December last year.</p>



<p>The doctor self-quarantined after returning into the country from South Africa before the partial lockdown in parts of the country but tested positive for the virus Friday.</p>



<p>“The doctor who left Ghana to attend a medical conference has tested positive for COVID19,” Management of the Hospital announced in a statement Friday evening.</p>



<p>Authorities say the COVID-19 team has since assumed taking care of him at a self-quarantine center “and he is currently doing well”.</p>



<p>“Management of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH), Ridge is in touch with him and we will support him till he recovers. We have also put in place all other measures to ensure that all the necessary care he needs is provided.</p>



<p>It indicated that the case was not locally transmitted but rather imported from South Africa.</p>



<p>“Currently no frontline staff has tested positive as safety measures have been put in place to ensure that no staff gets affected,” the management added.</p>
