Soldier Arrested, Three on the Run After Failed Robbery Attempt at Obuasi Mining Site

Amidst gunfire, one soldier has been apprehended while three others remain at large following an attempted robbery at a mining site near Kwabenakwa-Obuasi.

The Obuasi East Patrol Team received a distress call around 7:30 pm yesterday, reporting an intrusion at a mining concession by four individuals dressed in military attire.

Armed with weapons including a pump-action gun and knives, they attempted to intimidate workers and extort money.

However, their plans were thwarted when civilians intervened, capturing one of the soldiers identified as L/Cpl. Opoku Eric.

During interrogation, Eric disclosed details of the operation, implicating one Musa Jafa from the Tema Naval Base, who is currently on the run.

An investigation is still ongoing. More details shortly
