US President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to end “transgender lunacy” in the US, asserting that there are only two genders, male and female.
Speaking at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona, Trump promised to sign executive orders on his first day in office to implement these changes.
Trump’s plans include ending transgender surgeries for children, which he referred to as “child sexual mutilation.”
He also aims to prevent biological males from competing in women’s sports and to remove transgender ideology from schools and the military.
The president-elect’s comments have sparked controversy, with some praising his commitment to traditional values and others criticizing his stance as discriminatory.
Trump’s vows are seen as a reversal of the Biden administration’s policies, which have supported transgender rights and inclusivity.
Under Trump’s proposed policy, the US government would only recognize two genders, male and female.
