WAEC Releases 2024 WASSCE Results Amid Performance Dip and Exam Malpractices

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the 2024 WASSCE results, revealing a mixed performance by candidates.

While 69.52% passed the English Language with grades A1 to C6, only 58.77% achieved similar results in Integrated Science, marking a notable decline in these subjects.

Core Mathematics saw 66.86% of students attaining acceptable grades, while Social Studies had the highest success rate at 71.53%.

However, the results of 483 candidates were canceled due to possession of mobile phones during the exams, spotlighting issues of examination malpractice.

WAEC has made the results available on its online portal and advised students to be cautious of fraudsters promising ‘result upgrades.’

The mixed performance has sparked online debates about the quality of education and the integrity of exams, with calls for reforms to address recurring challenges.

Despite the controversies, WAEC urges candidates to celebrate their successes responsibly and consider improving where necessary.
