We Received $105K and Not $3M - GBC Director Exposes Sport Minister

Prof. Amin Alhassan, Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), has publicly challenged Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif’s claim that GBC received over $3 million for the 2023 African Games coverage.

Prof. Alhassan revealed that GBC received only $105,000, a stark contrast to the figure mentioned by Mustapha Ussif, the Sport Minister.

The contract between GBC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports originally outlined that GBC would deliver broadcasting services valued at $3.6 million, with the Ministry responsible for funding this amount.

However, due to GBC’s limited equipment, the majority of the funds were diverted to foreign third parties for technical production.

This revelation has sparked intense debate, with many questioning the transparency and management of the funds allocated for the event.

The discrepancy has led to increased scrutiny of the financial handling within the Ministry and raised concerns about accountability in government contracts.
