Madam Vicentia Aboagyewaa, a resident of Nanoman near Accra, has made an impassioned plea to the Inspector General of Police and state authorities for justice in the case of her late husband, Mr. Yaw Harrison.
The deceased, an electrician and father of two, allegedly died at the Dodowa DOVVSU office under controversial circumstances.
According to Madam Aboagyewaa, her husband was initially arrested based on accusations from a neighbor, who claimed he had stolen money and bread, and attempted to assault a minor.
Mr. Harrison, who reportedly suffered from severe hypertension, was detained for three days following these allegations.
Upon his release, he was instructed to report to the Dodowa DOVVSU division, where he tragically collapsed during his visit. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Mr. Harrison was pronounced dead on arrival.
This incident has raised questions about the treatment of suspects in police custody, especially those with known health conditions, and the procedures followed during such arrests and detentions.
