A 2016 video of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia lambasting the Mahama administration for its tax policies has come back to haunt him, as Ghanaians draw parallels with the current NPP government’s tax record.
In the resurfaced video, Bawumia accused the NDC of failing to fulfill its promise to improve Ghanaians’ lives, instead imposing excessive taxes. However, with the NPP introducing new taxes, including the contentious E-levy, many are accusing Bawumia of hypocrisy.
Ghanaians are taking to social media to express their discontent, citing the perceived contradiction between Bawumia’s 2016 stance and the NPP’s current tax policies.
Moreover, allegations of state-sponsored intimidation against critics have further fueled the debate.
