Despite a disappointing start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is confident that Ghana can still secure qualification.
Mathematically, we still have a chance,” Addo emphasized in an interview with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) media team. “We will do everything in our power to keep this chance alive.”
Ghana’s journey in the qualifiers has been tumultuous, with a loss to Angola, draws against Niger and Sudan, and a 0-2 defeat to Sudan in Libya.
Otto Addo stressed the importance of winning home games and maintaining discipline in both defense and attack. “You have to win your home games. The passion and discipline, both defensively and offensively, were there, but we just didn’t execute,” he reflected.

The coach also expressed disappointment with the outcomes of certain matches, notably the losses to Angola and Sudan. “We definitely deserved to win against Angola, and also the last one against Sudan,” he said.
With remaining games to play, Otto Addo’s optimism underscores the team’s determination to turn their fortunes around and secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON.
Ghanaians will be watching anxiously as the Black Stars strive to revive their qualifying campaign and bring glory back to the nation.
